What is RockBridge Foundation?
The RockBridge Foundation, originally called the Brentwood Baptist Foundation, was established in response to the vision of Bill Wilson, the first pastor of Brentwood Baptist Church. Bill's plan was to fund mission activities through estate gifts and current giving to the foundation. Bill believed that such a foundation would put Brentwood Baptist in position to respond in a timely manner to ministry opportunities such as; natural disasters, beginning new congregations, financially supporting those going on mission trips, the financial needs of our seminary students and other ministries that may not even exist today.
A Message from
RockBridge Foundation Director,
We at RockBridge Foundation are here to help you establish the two most important elements of your legacy. First and foremost we want you to leave a lasting spiritual legacy. When Paul wrote II Timothy 4:6-7 he was at the end of his life and knew it. In verse 6 Paul says he is being poured out as a drink offering. That is an important metaphor for us also. The drink offering was a libation of oils and wine poured onto or next to the sacrifice in a burnt offering. Naturally it was consumed by the fire but it's aroma and essence was in the meat sacrificed. All that was left of the drink offering was that fragrance or seasoning in the sacrifice. In the same way Paul poured himself into the lives of those he taught. All that would be left of his life was the truths of Christ in the lives of those he taught, those he called his children. That was his legacy. What is your spiritual legacy? Are there others, for example, your children, your coworkers, your neighbors who have been changed because you poured your life into them the way Paul poured his life into Timothy and others? Our goal at Brentwood Baptist and RockBridge Foundation is to equip you to leave a spiritual legacy.
The second part of your legacy is the financial arrangements you make for your family and the ministries of the church. RockBridge Foundation exists to help you develop a ministry plan for your fiscal legacy.
It is my prayer you will let me help you with both elements of your legacy.
